These are used for terminating high voltage cables in main units (RMU), Transformers, GIS insulated switchgear which have very less air clearance. These have semi conductive surface and when the outer surface is connected to ground it is at zero potential on the surface of the termination. It also provides human safety as accidental contact does not lead to short circuit or shock to human life.
